Linear B keyboard
This is an online Linear B keyboard, the script used to write Mycenaean Greek. Note the following points:
- For every symbol you can write the ID preceded by an asterisk *, e.g. *8 for 𐀀, *22 for 𐁒, etc.
- For syllabograms you can write the syllable in lower case, e.g. ka for 𐀏, a3 or ai for 𐁁, etc.
- For logograms you can write their traditional upper case abbreviation if it was codified somewhere, e.g. TUN for 𐂪, M for 𐄸, etc.
- The Unicode name (stripped of its spaces and hyphens) was also taken whenever present as a possible alias, e.g. WHEEL for 𐃏, alongside ROTA.
- In sources italic upper case is used for syllabograms employed as logograms, here they are to be spelled always in lower case.
- Monograms may be spelled both in lower case and in upper case without any syllable separators, e.g. kapo or KAPO for 𐂓, etc.
- Numbers will be converted automatically, e.g. 2 for 𐄈, 24 for 𐄑𐄊, 2630 for 𐄣𐄞𐄒, etc.
- These inputs must be followed by the pressing of dash or space in order to be converted. Any following whitespace character will also work.
- Use the comma , for the word divider 𐄀. Also use the brackets [[ ]] and < > for ⟦ ⟧ and ⟨ ⟩ respectively.
- This keyboard is limited by the character present in Unicode. A number of ideograms, especially combinations, are missing from it.
- Please use this only to transcribe existing Linear B inscriptions and not to make up original ones. Misinformation is fast to spread and hard to extinguish.
If you are seeing boxes instead of symbols please install the font Aegean or Noto Sans Linear B. The symbols supported by Unicode are the following:
